Volunteer Positions
The City of Granite Falls will be creating Adopt-A-Street and Adopt-A-Park programs in 2010. Service Organizations, Citizen Groups, Businesses, and individual volunteers are encouraged to participate in these programs to help keep our streets and parks looking clean and safe for all of us to enjoy.
Parks Commission
The Park Board is a created of four members appointed by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council from citizens of recognized fitness for such positions who live within the Granite Falls area. This is a voluntary position and no compensation will be received for your service.
Appointment: The Mayor shall appoint with the consent of the Council, two members for a three-year term, one member for a two-year term and one member for a one-year term.
Duties: The park board is an advisory board to the City Council. The board shall have the duty to make recommendations and report to the City Council. The board is responsible to oversee and report to Council regarding all cultural and recreational activity that will employ the leisure time of the people in a constructive and wholesome manner, including but not limited to all parks, play and recreational grounds, recreational facilities, ball fields, community buildings and community events. The board shall review, oversee report and make recommendations to the Council regarding all aspects of planning, promoting, operating, managing, maintaining, improving, developing, constructing, and acquiring city property, structures, equipment, activities, and events relating to cultural, recreational of "park" purpose, specifically including grant application, donations and the setting of fees and regulations.

Library Board Has Vacancy
The Granite Falls Library Board is seeking a volunteer to fill a vacancy on the board. The Library Board consists of five members, each serving a five-year term. This position is to fill a partial term which will expire in February 2011. The Board meets at 7:00 pm on the Second Tuesday of February, May, September and November.
The Library Board provides support and advice to the Mayor and the City Council on planning, management, use, care and disposition of the library's property, equipment, and physical facilities; and the budget, administration, scope and quality of library resources and services provided to the City of Granite Falls by Sno-Isle Libraries.
The Board also represents the interests of the City of Granite Falls by advising the Sno-Isle Regional Library System on policies for the development of the library's collection, the use of the library, and the scope and quality of the service provided.
